Methods and apparatus are provided for an analyte detecting device. In one embodiment, the apparatus for assisting fluid sampling comprising a tissue interface (500) having a tissue interface surface. The surface is shaped to provide pressure on the tissue, except at one location. The tissue interface may be made of a pliable material. The tissue interface may apply an even amount of pressure to the tissue that is engaged to facilitate fluid sampling.
