A hip-girdling pelvic sling device (12) for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a pelvis that has been fractured. Areas of mating types of fastener material such as mating hook-bearing fastener material (54) and loop pile fastener material (52) are arranged on the device to enable a strap (30) to be secured at various effective lengths to provide a wide range of adjustability to make the device (12) useful for persons of various sizes. A buckle (16) includes pins (72) that engage holes (40) in the strap (30) when the device (12) is under tension.
