In one aspect there is provided a medical navigation system, comprising acomputingdevice having a processor coupled to a memory, a tracking camera for trackingmedicalinstruments, and a display for displaying an image. Tracked medicalinstruments may haveattached thereto an indicator device having a visual indicator. The indicatordevice ispositioned in view of a user during the medical procedure, and is configuredto receive,from the medical navigation system, data indicating a quality of the trackingof the one ormore instruments, and to display, using the visual indicator, the dataindicating the qualityof the tracking.
