PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus accurately predicting an SAR (Specific Absorption Ratio) even in a divided breath-holding imaging, and having high flexibility in setting up imaging conditions without causing elongation of an imaging time or lowering of an image quality.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: an input section 23 for receiving an input of imaging conditions including a divided breath-holding imaging consisting of a breath-holding imaging section and a free respiration section and receiving an operator's instruction to restart the imaging； an SAR prediction section 31 for calculating a prediction value of an SAR on the basis of the imaging conditions； and an imaging control section 30 for controlling the imaging according to an imaging sequence based on the imaging conditions. The imaging control section 30 prescribes a prescribed time out of the free respiration section as an imaging forbidding period of forbidding to restart the imaging.
