The present invention is related to methods and compositions for thetherapeutic and diagnostic use in the treatmentof diseases and disorders which are caused by or associated with amyloid oramyloid-like proteins including amyloidosis. Inparticular, the present invention provides methods and compositions foreliciting a highly specific and highly effective immune responsein an organism, but particularly within an animal, particularly a mammal or ahuman, which is capable of preventing oralleviating amyloidosis, or the symptoms associated with amyloidosis, a groupof diseases and disorders associated with amyloid plaqueformation including secondary amyloidosis and age-related amyloidosisincluding, but not limited to, neurological disorders suchas Alzheimer' s Disease (AD) , including diseases or conditions characterizedby a loss of cognitive memory capacity such as, forexample, mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
