PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope insertion assisting device to be attached to an insertion portion of an endoscope and used, wherein the insertion portion of the endoscope can be highly efficiently inserted.SOLUTION: The insertion assisting device 10 includes: a support cylinder into which the substantially whole length of the insertion portion of the endoscope is inserted an overtube 22 externally fitted to the support cylinder and a belt reeling device 25 having two reeling shafts allowing both ends of an ended belt 20 to be fixed thereto respectively, and unreeling and reeling the ended belt 20. A distal end fixing portion 26 fixed to the distal end of the endoscope insertion portion is formed on the inside of the distal end side of the support cylinder, and a tapered surface 28 formed on the root side is fixed to a hand operating section of the endoscope. A plurality of belt insertion holes 33 are formed in the overtube 22 in line along an insertion axis 18. The belt insertion holes 33 are formed on three parts formed by trisecting the circular direction, respectively, and the three ended belts 20 are inserted.
