Described herein are dental compositions, more particularly water solubledental varnish composition useful for effectivefluoridation, in situ biomimetic remineralization and improved adhesion toenamel. The dental composition includes a hydrogel-formingpolymer having cohesive properties to itself and adhesive properties to adental enamel. The hydrogel forming polymer includes a water-solublepolymer and an adhesion promotor chemically and/or physically conjugated tothe water-soluble polymer. The embodimentsalso provide methods of forming a hydrogel forming polymer and use of hydrogelforming polymer to prepare such dental composition.
