cane rose and alpha-cyclodextrin: formation of an inclusion complex with antimicrobial potential. The present invention describes the composition, preparation process and application of the Î ± -cyclodextrin-encapsulated cane rose forming inclusion complex. The object of this invention has a promising potential as carrier through the controlled release of photosensitizing compounds, such as rose cane dye, employed in photodynamic therapy, a therapeutic tool with antimicrobial activity. The inclusion system was obtained by means of a mini spray dryer b-290 (büchi, switzerland). For the experimental tests with the microorganism a standardized suspension of streptococcus mutans water 159 (up to 700610) was prepared. minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations (cim and cbm, respectively) of the free-form cane rose photosensitizer contained in the inclusion complex with α-cyclodextrin were determined by photodynamic therapy against streptococcus bacterial suspensions. mutans in vitro. the broth microdilution technique was performed as recommended by clsi (2012). the inoculum of s. mutans was standardized on tsb medium with 5% yeast extract on the 0.5 mcfarland scale, using initial concentrations of 32 µm cane rose and 64 µm rba-cd as stock solutions and 11 binary dilutions of each. photosensitizers were tested. Photodynamic therapy performed with the inclusion compound was effective in reducing microbial load in s suspensions. mutans. Addition of α-cyclodextrin favored the antimicrobial effect of the cane rose photosensitizer.
