To provide a spinning reel for fishing, capable of saving the space for a mechanism for braking the rotation of a rotor and capable of retaining the smooth braking of the rotor for a long period of time.
SOLUTION: The spinning reel for fishing includes a locking member 40 disposed in an arm 2b and a socket member 50, which is an annular elastic member to be fitted to the outside of the outer periphery of a reel body 1. When a bail supporting member 2d is inverted to a fishing line releasing position, the locking member 40 is moved to the reel body 1 side, and the distal end 42 is pressed in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the socket member 50 and locked and by which braking force is applied to the rotor 2. The socked member 50 is fitted into an attaching groove 51 formed in the outer periphery of the reel body 1, and a restraining part 51a projecting to the inner side in the direction of the width of the groove is formed in the attaching groove 51. As the socket member 50 is engaged with the restraining part 51a and the socket member 50 is restrained from moving outward in the radial direction.
