Disclosed is a conduit comprising a first channel (102) and a second channel (104) where the first channel is configured to conduct an inspiratory gas and the second channel is configured to conduct an expiratory gas. An exchanger is positioned along the first channel and the second channel to separate the first channel and the second channel. The exchanger is configured to transfer a component (e.g. temperature or humidity) of the gas of the second channel to the gas of the first channel. The exchanger can have a folded surface having multiple folds (1070) and can be held between two halves (101-T, 101-B) of a respiratory treatment conduit. The crease(s) (1072) of the fold(s) can run parallel to the flow path of the conduit. The multiple folds act to increase the surface area of the exchanger with respect to the cross-sectional area of the conduit.
