PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for hair, which is useful for damaged hair and has excellent slipperiness and softness in wetting from application through rinsing to drying and after drying.SOLUTION: The composition for hair comprises (A) a cationic surfactant having a hydroxyalkyl group-containing specific structure as an essential component, and if necessary (B) a higher alcohol, (C) an oily component, (D) a silicone oil and (E) a polyhydric alcohol.
