Disclosed are a method for extracting airways and pulmonary lobes and an apparatus therefor. An image processing apparatus uses a region growth method in order to extract a first candidate region relating to the airway from a three-dimensional human body image, extracts a second candidate region on the basis of the directionality of changes in the signal strength of voxels pertaining to a pulmonary region sectioned off from the three-dimensional human body image, and then extracts an airway region by removing noise on the basis of similarity in the directionality of changes in the signal strength of voxels in a third candidate region obtained by combining the first candidate region and the second candidate region. Also, the image processing apparatus sections off the pulmonary region from the three-dimensional human body image by using the region growth method, extracts a gap candidate group in between pulmonary lobes on the basis of the directionality of the changes in the signal strength of the voxels pertaining to the pulmonary region, generates a virtual gap on the basis of the gap candidate group which is represented by restructuring an image of the pulmonary region comprising the gap candidate group into an image which is viewed from the front side of a human body, and extracts the pulmonary lobe by using the virtual gap.Linvention porte sur un procédé qui permet dextraire des voies respiratoires et des lobes pulmonaires et sur un appareil associé. Un appareil de traitement dimage utilise un procédé de croissance de région afin dextraire une première région candidate concernant la voie respiratoire à partir dune image du corps humain tridimensionnelle, extrait une seconde région candidate sur la base de lorientation des changements dans lintensité du signal de voxels concernant une région pulmonaire sectionnée à partir de limage du corps humain tridimensionnelle, puis extrait une région de voie respiratoire par lélimination du bruit sur la base dune similarité
