There is provided a device for performing a tracheotomy. The tracheostomy dilator has a body (20), tip (12) and guiding catheter (14) which are non - detachably attached to each other. The dilator has a cannula sized to accommodate a guide wire (16). After the trachea has been dilated, the entire device may be removed, leaving only the guide wire in the stoma, and a tracheostomy tube may be inserted over the guide wire and into the trachea. This substantially reduces the number of components and steps required for a successful tracheostomy procedure.La présente invention concerne un dispositif pour effectuer une trachéotomie. Le dilatateur de trachéostomie a un corps (20), une pointe (12) et un cathéter de guidage (14) qui sont assemblés les uns aux autres de façon non détachable. Le dilatateur a une canule dimensionnée pour recevoir un fil guide (16). Une fois que la trachée a été dilatée, le dispositif entier peut être enlevé, en ne laissant que le fil guide dans la stomie, et un tube de trachéostomie peut être inséré sur le fil guide et dans la trachée. Ce dispositif permet de réduire sensiblement le nombre de composants et détapes requis pour une procédure de trachéostomie réussie.
