ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION- Invention Title: One pot synthesis of antimicrobial photo-active herbal core shell silver quantum dots. The present invention discloses a process for the synthesis of herbal core -shell silver quantum dots (QDs). Herbal extract was used to synthesize one pot solvothermal method for synthesis of photosensitive core-shell silver quantum dots. These silver quantum dots were tested against bacteria to study for its anti-microbial effects with and without visible light. In most of the conditions tested, we observed a greater anti-bacterial effect of these silver quantum dots whilst light activation as it gets more surface area with high photosensitivity. These herbal core shell QDs were characterized by using UV-Visible, Cyclic Voltametry, TEM and EDS analysis to confirm composition.
