Disclosed are novel absorbent, semi-crystalline polymer blend compositions that exhibit increased rates of crystallization and nucleation. Also disclosed are medical device compositions such as fibers made from such blends. The blend has a first absorbent polymer component having a first molecular weight distribution and a second absorbent polymer component having an ultra-high molecular weight distribution.
