PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an installation for breeding coral, efficiently promoting the rooting and breeding of coral colony at a site where coral reef has been destructed or has not been grown.
SOLUTION: The method comprises the following process: Basal bodies immobilized with coral pieces of reef building coral are arranged on the bottom wall of a water tank in between a first electrode and a second electrode arranged in parallel to each other on the first and the second wall surfaces facing to each other of the water tank, and direct-current voltage is applied in between the first and the second electrodes while holding the first and the second electrodes at an intermediate position in the vertical direction of the coral pieces. Water is supplied into the water tank by jetting seawater onto the water surface in the water tank at predetermined hydraulic pressure via multiple seawater jet nozzles provided horizontally on the third wall surface of the water tank, and stationary seawater flow running from the third wall surface to a fourth wall surface is created while keeping the water level nearly constant, by exhausting the seawater in the water tank in such a waterfall fashion as to extend from the fourth wall surface facing to the third wall surface sideways of the fourth wall surface.
