Ascorbate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is described for use in carrying out a method, or for the preparation of a medicament for carrying out a method, of enhancing a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image of a body or body region such as an organ or organ region in a subject. The method is carried out by parenterally administering ascorbate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the subject in an MRI image-enhancing amount； and then generating, by MRI of the subject, an image of the body or body region. The ascorbate or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof enhances the MRI image.L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'ascorbate ou d'un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ce dernier dans la mise en œuvre d'une méthode, ou pour la préparation d'un médicament pour la mise en œuvre d'une méthode, destinée à améliorer l'image d'imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM) du corps ou d'une région du corps, tel qu'un organe ou une zone d'organe chez le patient. La méthode est mise en œuvre par administration au patient par voie parentérale d'ascorbate ou d'un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ce dernier en une quantité permettant l'amélioration des images d'IRM ； et en générant ensuite, par une IRM du patient, une image du corps ou d'une région du corps. L'ascorbate ou le sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ce dernier améliore l'image d'IRM.
