PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus and an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which allow a user to recognize a subject, a probe, a scan contour image and an ultrasonic tomographic image in one screen.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus includes: a head-mounted type display device 10 which has a display part 20 for overlapping a virtual image on a real image of a subject 3 and an ultrasonic probe 50 to display them and is mounted to the head of an operator detection means 30 which detects the position and posture of the ultrasonic probe a first virtual image formation part 110 which generates an ultrasonic tomographic image 210B on the basis of a reflection echo in a scan region received by the ultrasonic probe and a second virtual image formation part 131 which forms a scan contour image 200B indicating the contour of the scan region on the basis of the posture of the ultrasonic probe. The display part aligns the contour image of the scan region on the real image position of the ultrasonic probe on the basis of the position of the ultrasonic probe to display it, and displays the ultrasonic tomographic image at the position where it is not overlapped with the real image of the ultrasonic probe and the contour image of the scan region.
