PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article which allows easy walking, wherein friction or leakage hardly occurs, wherein absorption performance of an absorbent core does not deteriorate, and which is satisfactory in a wear feeling and appearance.SOLUTION: A diaper 1 includes a belly side sheet member 2, a back side sheet member 3, and an absorbent body 4 including the absorbent core 5. Both edge parts of both the sheet members 2, 3 are joined to form a pair of side seal parts S, S, and a crotch part C is formed between both the sheet members 2, 3. The absorbent core 5 is formed with a constriction part 5c in a central part in the long direction, each of the belly side and back side sheet members 2, 3 includes elastic members 7 each disposed in the width direction in a stretched state. The constriction part 5c has a front constriction part 5f overlapping with the belly side sheet member 2, and does not overlap with the back side sheet member 3.
