A measurement is taken of the characteristics of motion activity of an individual, and parameters of a psychophysiological or functional state are computed on the basis of an analysis of the motion activity of the individual. The characteristics of motion activity of an individual are measured using a motion parameter measurement means which comes into direct or indirect mechanical contact with the body of the individual, a motion parameter conversion sensor is disposed in the motion parameter measurement means in such a way that the motion parameter conversion sensor does not come into direct contact with the body of the individual, and a measured motion parameter value is converted to a speed of motion.
