PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production inhibitor of a citral deterioration product and a production inhibition method, where generation of a degradation odor can be suppressed and significant quality reduction of a citral-containing composition can be prevented, by inhibiting production of a degradation odor-causing substance (citral deterioration product) from citral produced particularly by heating or passing of time in citral or a citral-containing composition.SOLUTION: As a production inhibitor of a citral deterioration product, a pine-needle extract or a composition having it as an active ingredient is used.
