The present disclosure relates to decoction for making beverages such as tea or tea-like drinks. To produce the composition of the present disclosure, the plant material is contacted with a solvent to remove the extract. The remaining plant material is then formed into a fibrous structure or network, such as a sheet or fibrous layer. The extract may be further processed or concentrated and reapplied to the plant material. According to the present disclosure, the resulting sheet or layer is then refined into individual pieces having a unique particle size distribution. The method of the present disclosure produces a composition that has a minimal amount of fines and fines and can have a relatively low bulk density.
