PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus that allows easy confirmation of an external device connected thereto.SOLUTION: A character string drawing circuit 312 obtains an observation image from an image processing circuit 311 according to a signal from a CPU 314 and creates a superimposed image by superimposing a graphic on the observation image. The superimposed image is sent to a main monitor 331 and a character string hiding circuit 313. The character string drawing circuit 312 receives the superimposed image and the position of the graphic in the superimposed image from the CPU 314. The character string hiding circuit 313 obtains the observation image from the character string drawing circuit 312 according to a signal from the CPU 314, and subjects the superimposed image to image processing to create a processed image in such a manner that characters in the superimposed image become unrecognizable. Then the processed image is sent to an image recording device 332.
