The present invention relates to a patient interface and a patient interface system comprising a responsive material and a method for preventing the formation of red marks due to wearing a patient interface (10) that is pressing against the skin of a patient (14) for a longer time and/or for reducing air leakages of the patient interface (10) that may result from an unintended shift of the patient interface (10) on the patients face. The responsive material is configured for alternating the pressure exerted by the cushion element (18, 26) on the patient (14), and/or the area on the patient where the pressure is exerted by the cushion element in response to a physical quantity acting on the responsive material. The formation of red marks and of air leakages can be reduced or even avoided by means of the responsive material.La présente invention concerne une interface patient et un système dinterface patient comprenant un matériau sensible. Linvention porte également sur un procédé destiné à prévenir la formation de marques rouges, dues au port dune interface patient (10) comprimée contre la peau dun patient (14) pendant une longue période, et/ou à réduire les fuites dair de linterface patient (10) susceptibles de résulter dun déplacement non intentionnel de linterface patient (10) sur le visage du patient. Le matériau sensible est conçu pour faire alterner la pression exercée par lélément de coussin (18, 26) sur le patient (14) et/ou sur la zone du patient sur laquelle la pression est exercée par lélément de coussin, en réponse à une quantité physique agissant sur le matériau sensible. La formation de marques rouges et de fuites dair peut être réduite ou même évitée au moyen dudit matériau sensible.
