The invention concerns a method of screening for compounds having antipsychotic activity that comprises identifying a molecular signature for compounds known to have antipsychotic activity and then screening compounds not known to have the antipsychotic activity to identify compounds that have the molecular signature and therefore have the given antipsychotic activity. This method can also be used to monitor patients undergoing treatment.
