Device comprises a support, a first portion protruding from the support and having a first opening for alignment with an entry point to a port, a second portion protruding from the support and configured to be positioned to align with the first opening in a plurality of different positions, and an actuator coupled to at least one of the first portion and the second portion for setting the relative positions of the first portion and the second portion to allow alignment of the tool axis formed between the first portion and the second portion through the first opening such that the tool provided on the tool axis includes a known position and orientation. Device according to the second embodiment is designed such that the tool provided on the tool axis passes through the entry point into the port with a known position and orientation.
