PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new drugs for discovering antimicrobials.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to design of short oligonucleotides and analogs thereof (such as, di-, and trinucleotide compounds) that are useful for various therapeutic applications. It is believed that compounds described herein can be used as antiviral agents, anticancer agents and so on. The compounds can modulate immune-stimulatory pathways and non-TLR pathways. The invention also relates to design of modified oligonucleotides for therapeutic applications, which involves excluding nucleotide segments having off-target effects from the modified oligonucleotides. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions including one or more of the compounds. It is believed that the compounds and compositions as described herein have therapeutic utility against a variety of diseases, including viral diseases, autoimmune diseases (such as, allergy, asthma, and inflammatory disorders) and cancer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1【課題】抗菌剤を発見するための新規薬剤を提供する。【解決手段】多種の治療適応に有用な短いオリゴヌクレオチド及びその類縁体（例えば、ジ－、及びトリヌクレオチド化合物等）の設計に関する。化合物は抗ウィルス剤、抗癌剤等として用いることができると考えられる。化合物は免疫刺激経路及び非ＴＬＲ経路を調節できる。改変したオリゴヌクレオチドからオフターゲット効果を有しているヌクレオチド断片を除外することによる、治療適応のための改変オリゴヌクレオチドの設計にも関する。また、１つ又はそれ以上の化合物を包含している医薬組成物を提供する。化合物及び組成物は、ウィルス性疾患、自己免疫疾患（例えば、アレルギー、喘息、及び炎症性疾患等）及び癌を包含する、多種の疾患に対して治療有用性を有すると考えられる。【選択図】図１
