An eye projection system is disclosed, including an image generator and an eyeprojection opticalmodule. The image generator is adapted to obtain data indicative of an image, produce a plurality of lightbeam portions corresponding to pixels of the image, adjust the intensity ofeach light beam portion inaccordance with a value of a pixel of the image corresponding thereto anddirect the light beam portion topropagate along a general optical propagation path towards the eye projectionoptical module with aprojection angle .alpha. scn, relative to the general optical propagationpath, which is determined in accordancewith a location of the respective pixel in the image. The eye projectionoptical module includes a gazetracking deflector responsive to input signals indicative of a gaze direction.beta. of a user eye and configuredand operable to deflect the general optical propagation path of the light beamportions towards thelocation of the pupil of the user eye associated with the gaze direction.beta.. The general optical propagationpath is deflected such that the light beam portions incident on the pupil withpupil incidence angles .alpha. inwith respect to a line of sight of the pupil, where the pupil incidence angles.alpha. in correspond to theprojection angles .alpha. scn. The system thereby provides direct projectionof the image onto the retina of theeye at a specific location on the retina regardless of the gaze direction.beta. of the eye.
