PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sugar chain-modified ulinastatin by replacing a glycosaminoglycan sugar chain of the original ulinastatin with a different glycosaminoglycan sugar chain under a planned modification design.
SOLUTION: At least a part of the nonreducing terminal side of a glycosaminoglycan sugar chain of ulinastatin is isolated by hydrolyzing with an endo-type glycosidase and a glycosaminoglycan to form a donor is bonded in place of the isolated chain by a sugar transfer reaction.
