The present invention provides a method for treating cystic fibrosis in a human subject in need thereof, wherein the method comprises repeatedly administering to the human subject a gas mixture comprising nitric oxide at a concentration from about 144 to about 176 ppm for a first period of time, followed by a gas mixture containing no nitric oxide for a second period of time, wherein the administration is repeated for a time sufficient to: a) reduce the level of at least one inflammatory biomarker in the human subject when compared to the level of the inflammatory biomarker prior to the administration b) reduce the microbial density by 1 to 2 log units as measured by colony forming units in the human subject when compared to the microbial density prior to the administration or c) a combination thereof.La présente invention concerne une méthode de traitement de la fibrose kystique chez un sujet humain en ayant besoin, laquelle méthode comprend ladministration répétée au sujet humain, dun mélange gazeux comportant de loxyde nitrique à une concentration denviron 144 à environ 176 ppm pour une première période de temps, suivie dun mélange de gaz ne contenant pas doxyde nitrique pour une seconde période de temps, ladministration étant répétée pendant une durée suffisante pour : a) réduire le niveau dau moins un marqueur biologique inflammatoire chez le sujet humain comparé au niveau du marqueur biologique inflammatoire avant ladministration b) réduire la densité microbienne de 1 à 2 unités logarithmiques telles que mesurées par des unités de formation de colonies chez le sujet humain par rapport à la densité microbienne avant ladministration ou c) une combinaison de ce qui précède.
