A first aspect of the invention relates to a device for a diagnosis and/or therapy monitoring of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The device comprises a housing with a rest or support device for holding immovably two extremities, preferably, both hands, whereby the support device comprises a placement surface with a preferred area of at least 30 cm x 20 cm for the simultaneous illumination and/or scanning of two extremities, and an image sensor having an area of illumination of preferably at least 30 cm x 20 cm for the simultaneous capturing of signals from the extremities, an excitation source for partially illuminating one extremity with a radiation of defined excitation wavelength, selected from the wavelength range of 740 to 810 nm, an image sensor for capturing a reference signal from the extremity as well as several signals from the regions of medical interest (ROI) of the extremity a comparator for comparing the reference signal with the signals from the regions of medical interest (ROI), wherein both the reference signal and the (ROI) signal originate from one extremity, and the device is adapted to compare the reference signals with the signals from the regions of medical interest in a comparator of the detected signals based on a fluorescent dye administered to a patient. A second aspect of the invention relates to a method for the quantitative diagnosis and semi-quantitative diagnostic preparation and/or therapy monitoring of inflammatory diseases using the device made according to the first aspect.
