The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating female menopausal symptoms, which comprises loganin, or a derivative or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, loganin increases the concentration of 17&beta-estradiol (E2) and shows the effects of increasing the expression of estrogen receptor alpha in the uterus, alleviating shrinking and degeneration of the uterus, decreasing accumulation and size of fat cells in the liver and abdominal fat tissues and reducing body weight, in a menopausal mouse model. In other words, loganin has the effects of alleviating a decrease in estrogen, an increase in body weight and fat accumulation and an increase in size of fat cells in the liver and abdominal fat tissues of females in their menopause.
