PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, a program, and an image processing method and so forth by which an efficient image summarizing process can be performed when an object image is left in a summarized image train, and also, the generation of a region where the observation becomes impossible resulting from the deletion of images is suppressed.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an image sequence acquiring section 200 which acquires an image sequence and a processing section 100 which performs an image summarizing process. The processing section 100 selects a first reference image from an object image sequence from among the image sequence, and at the same time, selects a first decision objective image from the image sequence. Then, the processing section 100 performs a first deletion propriety decision process for deciding the deletion propriety of the first decision objective image conforming to first deformation information between the first reference image and the first decision objective image. Also, the processing section 100 selects a second reference image and a second decision objective image from a partial image train in which a plurality of images which have been decided to be unable to be deleted in the first deletion propriety decision process continue.
