PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output an endoscope image with sufficient image quality by suppressing deterioration in the endoscope image even when abnormal scope information is read.SOLUTION: The endoscope system includes an endoscope apparatus and a video processor. The endoscope apparatus includes: a memory for storing scope information intrinsic to the endoscope apparatus and a transmission part for reading the scope information from the memory and transmitting the information to the video processor. The video processor includes: a first determination part for determining a communication abnormality on whether the scope information is normally received or not a second determination part for determining whether a data abnormality has occurred in the received scope information an initial value memory for storing a video processing setting initial parameter and a control part for setting the video processing setting initial parameter based on the scope information, or the video processing setting initial parameter stored in the initial value memory, as the video processing setting parameter, based on the determination results of the first and second determination parts.
