The endoscope apparatus 1 further includes a control section 41 configured to calculate a target value detected by the optical sensor 42b, from an intensity from the optical sensor 43b and the information in the memory 41a, determine whether or not the intensity detected by the optical sensor 43b is equal to or greater than the minimum value stored in the memory 41a, and if it is determined that the intensity detected by the optical sensor 43b is equal to or greater than the minimum value, control driving of an LED 42 so that the intensity reaches the calculated target value, and if the intensity detected by the optical sensor 43b is smaller than the minimum value, control an LED 43 and the LED 42 in such a manner that respective duty cycles or numbers of pulses are changed while respective current values are maintained at respective predetermined values.
