A novel approach for analyzing a patients body part of interest to a assess bone strength and/or risk of future fracture includes obtaining a priori information regarding the body part of interest (s11), performing X-ray absorptiometry scans of the patients body part of interest and collecting the X-ray absorptiometry data from the scans (s13), constructing a three-dimensional model of the patients body part of interest, by utilizing the a prior information along with the X-ray absorptiometry data (s15) and performing measurement of various geometric parameters on the three-dimensional geometric and structural properties (s17).Une nouvelle approche analytique dune partie du corps dun patient destinée à évaluer la résistance osseuse et/ou le risque de fracture consiste à obtenir des informations à priori sur ladite partie du corps, à effectuer des balayages par absorptiométrie aux rayons X de ladite partie du corps du patient et à collecter des données dabsorptiométrie par rayon X à partir des balayages, à élaborer un modèle tridimensionnel de ladite partie du corps du patient en utilisant les informations à priori et les données absorptiométriques par rayon X et à effectuer des mesures de différents paramètres géométriques sur le modèle tridimensionnel afin de déterminer des propriétés structurelles et géométriques.
