Disclosed is a solid phase calcium enriched composition comprising: (i) at least one carbohydrate (ii) at least one source of calcium and (iii) at least one edible organic acid or salts thereof wherein the calcium content is at least 5 percent to 12 percent (w/w) and has a water solubility of at least 500 g/L, the amount of the at least one source of carbohydrate is 30-60 percent (w/w), the amount of the at least one source of an edible organic acid is 30-60 percent (w/w), and said composition does not separate out of a liquid phase even under long storage periods. Also disclosed is a method for producing a dry calcium-rich composition, comprising: (i) dissolving at least one carbohydrate in an aqueous solution and optionally heating to 80 degrees C to fully dissolve the carbohydrate (ii) adding at least one source of calcium to the aqueous solution to form a carbohydrate-calcium solution (iii) filtering the solution to remove sediments (iv) adding at least one edible organic acid to the solution to form a calcium enriched aqueous composition having a solubility of at least 500 g/L and (v) drying the calcium enriched aqueous composition to form a dry calcium enriched composition. Further disclosed is a beverage, carbonated or non-carbonated, that comprises the composition.
