A method for operating an electronic vapour inhaler 10 comprising an induction heating arrangement is disclosed wherein the heating arrangement comprises an induction coil 36 for generating an alternating electromagnetic field to heat an induction heatable element 28 and, thereby, heat a non-liquid flavour-release medium 30, the method comprising intermittently energising the induction coil which provides pulsed heating of the induction heatable element. Preferably, the method comprises varying the pulse frequency (Fig 2b) of the power supplied to the induction coil and/or varying the pulse amplitude of the power supplied to the induction coil and/or varying the duty cycle of the power supplied to the induction coil. Preferably, the operating temperature is between 180 °C and 240 °C. Preferably, there is a first operating phase which does not exceed 10 seconds or, more preferably, 5 seconds. Also claimed is an electronic vapour inhaler which comprises an induction heating arrangement comprising an induction coil, an induction heatable element, and a control arrangement 20.
