The invention relates to an implant for insertion between vertebral bodies (8) of the spinal column as a spacer for vertebrae or vertebrae portions removed from the spinal column, comprising a first implant part (2) and a second implant part (3), which can be moved relative to each other in the direction of the coaxial longitudinal axis thereof for changing the length of the implant (1), and further comprising at least one fixing plate (10), which can be fastened to one of the implant parts (2, 3), is oriented toward the adjoining vertebra and covers the same at least partially.
