PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to effectively bring a collected pollutant and an active substance for purification into contact with each other even if a large amount of pollutants are collected.SOLUTION: An air cleaner comprises a casing 1, an air inlet 4, a pollution collection part 5, an air blower 6, an air outlet 7, louvers 8, 9, an infrared sensor 11, a pollutant sensor 13, a control part 20 and so on. Further, the pollution collection part 5 comprises a charging part 30 and a dust collection part 40. A dust collection part ground electrode 42 of the dust collection part 40 is formed by use of a component which generates radicals capable of purifying bacilli and viruses. The control part 20 calculates a pollution integrated quantity ΣA equivalent to an accumulation amount of pollutants accumulated in the dust collection part ground electrode 42. In the case that the pollution integrated quantity ΣA exceeds a reference value A1, the air cleaner is transferred to a collection capacity suppression mode thereby lowering pollutant collection capacity of the pollution collection part 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
