PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an egg shell high in strength and hard to be cracked, and a container using an egg shell high in strength and usable for many applications for food products, plant cultivation, culture media or the like.SOLUTION: Provided is an egg shell 20 in which at least partial regions of surfaces 21a, 21b are covered with a coating layer 16 fixed to the surfaces 21a, 21b. In this way, the strength of the egg shell 20 is increased, and the cracks or the like of the egg shell 20 can be prevented. Also provided is a container 10 made of the egg shell 20, in which a part of the egg shell 20 is cut to form an opening 14, and the coating layer 16 is formed at the edge part of the opening 14.
