PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new endothelin-1 production inhibitor, to provide a hexosaminidase release inhibitor, to provide a skin care preparation excellent in anti-inflammatory and/or skin-whitening effects, to provide a method for inhibiting the production of endothelin-1, and to provide a method for inhibiting hexosaminidase release.
SOLUTION: The endothelin-1 production inhibitor contains a Chloranthus japonicus extract as an active ingredient. The hexosaminidase release inhibitor also contains a Chloranthus japonicus extract as an active ingredient. The skin care preparations for anti-inflammatory or whitening use contains the inhibitor. There is also provided a method for inhibiting the production of endothelin-1, or a method for inhibiting hexosaminidase release by supplying the Chloranthus japonicus extract.
