Disclosed herein are a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of obesity comprising an extract of a mixture comprising Saururi chinensis Baill., Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, and Polygalae Radix, or an extract of a mixture comprising Saururi chinensis Baill., Curcumae Longae Rhiwma, Polygalae Radix, and Acori Gramineri Rhizoma a food composition comprising the extract of the mixture and a method of manufacturing the extracts of the mixture. The extracts of the present invention can inhibit fat generation without adverse effects such as cellular toxicity and thus can be widely used for the prevention, improvement, or treatment of obesity or obesity-related diseases.
