Disclosed is a method for the production of trans- or cis-diammoniumdichlorodihydroxoplatinum(IV) and use thereof for the production of pharmaceutical agent. The method includes reaction of trans- or cis-diammoniumdichloroplatinum(II) with a solution comprising >30% peroxide at temperatures below 30°C and the product thus obtained is dissolved in a mineral acid and subsequently precipitated with an alkaline solution. Fur¬ther disclosed is a compound, obtained by the aforementioned method, of general formula, wherein X1, X2 are calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, li¬thium ions, alkyl and/or aryl residues.
