The present invention provides a method of detecting an object of interest which can be used in a malignant tumor diagnosis domain. The method of detecting an object of interest performed by a computing device comprises: a step of using a training image having a detection result for an object of interest to train a machine learning model based on a convolutional neural network； a step of inputting a target image which does not have a classification result for the object of interest into the machine learning model to extract a first class activation map indicating a feature map for the object of interest, wherein the target image is an image having a larger area than the training image； and a step of using the first class activation map to detect the object of interest in the target image.악성 종양 진단 도메인에서 활용될 수 있는 관심 객체 검출 방법이 제공된다. 컴퓨팅 장치에 의해 수행되는 관심 객체 검출 방법은 관심 객체에 대한 검출 결과가 주어진 트레이닝 이미지를 이용하여, 컨볼루션 신경망(Convolutional Neural Network) 기반의 기계 학습 모델을 트레이닝 하는 단계, 관심 객체에 대한 분류 결과가 주어지지 않은 타깃 이미지를 상기 기계 학습 모델에 입력하여, 관심 객체에 대한 특징 맵(feature map)을 가리키는 제1 클래스 액티베이션 맵(class activation map)을 추출하되, 상기 타깃 이미지는 상기 트레이닝 이미지보다 더 큰 넓이를 갖는 이미지인, 단계 및 상기 제1 클래스 액티베이션 맵을 이용하여, 상기 타깃 이미지에서 관심 객체를 검출하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
