PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent sheet which has such absorption performance as to rapidly absorb and keep an object to be absorbed therein even though the object has high viscosity, and also has superior biodegradability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The absorbent sheet is provided with an absorbing layer formed of a nonwoven fabric which is obtained by heat-treating an air-laid web formed by stacking a first web formed of a first raw material fiber and a second web formed of a second raw material fiber. The first raw material fiber contains 2.5% or more and 50% or less of a thermally adhesive fiber that is selected from a thermally adhesive fiber (x1) made of a resin (A) selected from polybutylene succinate and the like, and a thermally adhesive fiber (x2) made of a resin (B) selected from polylactic acid and the like and the resin (A), 0.15% or more and 95% or less of a composite fiber that is made of the resin (B), has a hollow part and has an average fineness of 10-50 dtex, and 0% or more and less than 5% of a cellulose fiber.
