process of obtaining rosmarunic acid (air) and semi-synthetic derivatives from the plant species origanum vul gare and formulations for the treatment of diabetes containing such substances. the scientific value lies in the extraordinary discoveries about plants, effectively contributing to purify the empirical applications, making phytotherapy worthy of greater popular credit. diabetes is considered a syndrome in terms of etiology and pathogenesis, characterized by altering the homeostasis of the organism, by complex and primary metabolic disorders of carbohydrates, which involve secondary, but in an important way, lipids and proteins. many substances extracted from plants have been found to reduce the level of glucose in the blood. the great diversity of chemical classes indicates that a variety of mechanisms of action must be involved in reducing the level of glucose in the blood. thus, the present investigation sought to evaluate the hypoglycemic activity of the infusion, hydroalcoholic extract of the plant species origanum vulgare, as well as the isolated substance - rosmarinic acid against diabetic rats induced by alloxan. although oral antidiabetics and insulin have effective effects in the treatment of diabetes, they have side effects that hinder their use, in addition to their high cost. therefore, the search for plants or natural compounds that present hypoglycemic activity comes to supply the need with new active compounds, less toxic and possibly more accessible to the population.processo de obtenção de ácido rosmarunico (ar) e de derivados semi-sintéticos a partir da espécie vegetal origanum vul gare e formulações para o tratamento de diabetes contendo tais substâncias. o valor científico está nas extraordinárias descobertas sobre as plantas, contribuindo efetivamente para purificar as aplicações empíricas, fazendo com que a fitoterapia se torne digna de maior crédito popular. o diabetes é considerada como uma síndrome quanto a etiologia e patogênese, ca
