A method for defining the shape of a radiation beam that is directed toward a subject and to a free-standing imaging detector detects the position and orientation of the imaging detector relative to a radiation source, then adjusts an aperture that lies in the path of the radiation beam to shape the beam for incidence on a predetermined area of the detector according to the detected imaging detector position. The radiation source is energized to emit the shaped radiation beam and the image data about the subject is acquired from the imaging detector.La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de définir la forme dun faisceau de rayonnement qui est dirigé vers un patient et un détecteur autonome dimagerie. Le procédé comprend la détection de la position et de lorientation du détecteur dimagerie par rapport à une source de rayonnement, puis lajustement dune ouverture qui se trouve dans le trajet du faisceau de rayonnement pour mettre en forme le faisceau afin de le diriger sur une zone prédéterminée du détecteur en fonction de la position détectée du détecteur dimagerie. La source de rayonnement est alimentée pour émettre le faisceau de rayonnement mis en forme et les données dimage concernant le patient sont acquises par le détecteur dimagerie.
