PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical treatment of Alzheimers disease and a method for increasing cognitive ability.SOLUTION: Provided is a composition containing a combination of PKC activator and PKC inhibitor. Also, provided are a method for adjusting α-secretase activity, improving or increasing cognitive ability, and/or alleviating nerve degeneration in an individual having a cognitive ability decreased disease, especially Akzheimers disease, and a method for increasing the production of non-amyloid productive soluble APP (sAPP), including activation of protein kinase C in the brain and inhibition of PKC in peripheral tissue.
