PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic composition having excellent shape-keeping properties, dispersion stability and salt tolerance.
SOLUTION: The cosmetic composition contains the following components (A) to (C): (A) a cellulose fiber having a &le1,000 nm maximum fiber diameter, and a 2-100 nm number-average fiber diameter, and comprising a cellulose having a cellulose type I crystal structure, and modified so that the hydroxy group at the C6 position of the glucose unit in the cellulose molecule may selectively be oxidized to provide an aldehyde group and a carboxy group so as to have a 0.6-2.2 mmol/g amount of the carboxy group (B) water and (C) a functional additive.
